The Old Gods
The Stygians believe that the Old Gods are ancient beings who live beyond "the Veil," a metaphysical barrier that prevents mortal souls from ascending to heaven, or divine souls from descending to earth. According to Stygian theology, there are countless infinities of Old Gods; they are the spirits of every living, dead, or inanimate thing that ever has existed. They aren't gods in the traditional sense; Stygians hold that each individual soul has just as much potential as a deity for change, and that the conglomeration of mortal souls (the Old Gods) is essentially a god in and of itself.
Stygians believe that, one day, the world will end, and that the cataclysm (whatever it may be) will split the Veil, allowing the the Old Gods to return to the world once more, and create it again.
